Aventurine (SiO2) is the name given to a variety of quartz that has a spangled appearance due to sparkling internal reflections from uniformly oriented minute inclusions of other minerals.


Green aventurine is colored by green fuchsite mica. Aventurine is found in the Ural Mountains of Russia, in Tamil Nadu, India, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and in Rutland, Vermont.
